US-based Carlson Hotels Worldwide is in talks to acquire complete ownership of RHW Hotel Management Company that runs Radisson in India. RHW Hotel Management Services is a joint venture company between Radisson International and Delhi-based real estate and hotel developer UMAK promoted by Ramesh Kapur. UMAK has majority stake in RHW Management, which currently manages Carlson’s properties that are run under the Radisson brand. The move will definitely help Carlson from being a mere franchisor to a full-fledged hotel management company in India similar to the Intercontinental, Marriott and Starwood. It will also signify a change in the Indian hotel industry. Carlson operates three hotel brands in India—Radisson, Park Plaza and Park Inn, which are not under its direct control.
