JAIPUR: Ignoring high court’s orders, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has not demolished the encroachment at Asaram’s ashram on Goner Road yet.

The report submitted by the settlement department on January 27 clearly says that the school premises, hostel and a hall are constructed illegally on public land.

Senior official source at JDA said, “Recently, the ashram authority had written a letter to JDA asking them not to demolish the construction and saying that a same size of land will be provided by the ashram at a different location. Till date, the JDA has not apprised state government about the development in the matter.” The source added, “It seems JDA is giving the ashram authorities time to approach the court again.”

On November 28, the high court had directed the settlement department to measure the land and the JDA was asked to demolish the ashram’s construction if it is encroaching public land. The court provided 15 days to the departments. However, no action has been taken by the authorities till date.

The administration recently demolished the encroachment made by Asaram’s ashram in Bhilwara and others situated in at least five more places including Pali’s Sumerpur, Kota, Bharatpur, Pushkar and Jodhpur are under scrutiny. Asaram is said to have at least 10 properties in various districts of the state.
