A multitude of known property developers in India are jostling among themselves to bag Le Corbusier’s dream project which is regarding the construction of an 11 storey tower at the heart of the City Centre in Sector 17.
In all, 10 real estate companies have been shortlisted and called for the technical and financial bids which are to be scheduled soon. The selected names are DLF, Emaar MGF, Parsvanath, PLL-CFC Consortium, Nagaarjun Constructions Co Ltd, UPPAL GGL Consortium, IVRCL Infrastructure and Projects Ltd, AB Movies Pvt Ltd, IJM Infrastructure, and L&T Consortium. The further selection names will be done on the basis of bidding price.
Le Corbusier has laid an extra emphasis on the realization of the tower and stressed on early construction of the building. The company has been delaying the project for the past five decades.
Development of tall towers in the modern city of Chandigarh has always been a debatable issue. Adding to the city woes are more fears ahead. Of this, inadequate parking space and traffic chaos are the major ones.
According to the administration, the tower would come up behind the General post Office and will spread over an area of 5 lakh sq. ft. The first four floors will be dedicated to hi-tech commercial shops whereas the left out part would feature low intensity shops. There will also be a provision for an underground parking.
