Flats in BangaloreThe Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will soon come up with 20,000 Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and 15,000 Middle Income Group (MIG) flats on encroached land in the city.

The authority will construct these flats on an area of 500 acres of plot which will be headed over to it by the State Government.

Development of the flats for economically weaker section will be implemented as a part of priority project of the state’s chief minister. A proposal has been sent to the Revenue Department and the plans are into processing. The plan is likely to be approved in six months, says BDA Commissioner MK Shankaralinge Gowda.

The authority will allocate Rs 500 crore for the development of infrastructure facilities in its layouts and undertake the construction at the proposed flyovers and underpasses. The project also includes Magadi-Mysore Road flyover.

Landscaping below the newly constructed flyovers at the Airport Road, Jayadeva Circle, Dairy Circle and Ananda Rao Circle will be carried out soon, the officer adds.

Some major changes will be brought in the plan as solution to problems experienced by the public. Residents in the Airport Flyover neighborhood have approached the Commissioner and brought to his notice the problems they faced.

Their major complaints were against unavailability of a pedestrian crossings and provisions for vehicles to take a U-turn on the Koramangla Intermediate Ring Road. Considering the problem, a skywalk would be constructed along with closing the crossing, says the Commissioner.
