Now, Delhiites will not need to pour in to shop at the malls at Gurgaon or any other glitzy suburbs as the Capital is all set to give a stiff competition to all in very near future. As much as eight million square feet of new mall space will be available in Delhi by the end of the year, says a report compiled by property consultancy Jones Lang La Salle.
The area is certainly much larger than what has been lined up for mall centers of Noida and Gurgaon combined. The upcoming projects in Delhi include the 1.3 million sq. ft MGF’s Metropolitan Mall, Select citywalk, and DLF’s South Court, all in Saket. It will also embrace DLF’s Promenade and Emporio, and Ambience Infrastructure’s Ambi mall in Vasant Kunj.
There are just a few quality malls in Delhi including Ansal Plaza and others in east and west Delhi. However, the new mall will add to the range. The areas like Pitampura, Vasant Kunj, Saket, and Dwarka will witness the mall boom after a spate of land auctions by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
Gurgaon is likely to have 5.3 million sq. ft. of upcoming malls by the end of the year and a ballpark figure of 2.3 million sq. ft. has been estimated for Noida. However, the Capital requires real momentum to leave suburbs behind in the race and to drive shoppers. The suburbs enjoy the advantage of already having the developed mall area if compared to Delhi.
Nowadays, people have become conscious of their life style and want to bring more and more improvements. They have now learnt to differentiate between a good mall and a bad mall. So, the Capital city certainly has advantage in light of this fact.
