RCF police have arrested a real estate agent who allegedly duped seven persons of Rs15.5 lakh promising them cheaper Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (Mhada) flats. click here The accused, Harshwardhan Palakmol, was arrested on a complaint received from one Adinath Kamble who alleged that he HAD paid Palakmol Rs2.25 lakh for a flat in Mhada complex at Vashi Naka in Chembur.
Palakmol and his still six accomplices targeted people looking for a flat in the Mhada scheme at rates cheaper than the m arket. The accused would show the interested buyers a flat in the complex and assure that they would get the same flat without applying to Mhada, said police inspector Shailesh Pasalwar.
To convince buyers, they also got fake documents which they passed off as original Mhada documents and took advance money from the victims and also gave them a receipt. After receiving the money, the accused would stop taking calls and also make excuses when the victims approached them.
Six other victims approached the RCF police after Kamble registered a cheating complaint against Palakmol and his accomplices. Palakmol got the idea when people approached him to enquire about flats under Mhada scheme. Police have now launched a manhunt to nab Palakmol’s six accomplices.
