Wipro Technologies is planning to expand its operations in Pune with an initial investment of Rs. 400 crore to develop its second development centre at Pune’s Hinjewadi IT SEZ.
The premises would have enough space to accommodate 7,000 employees in the next five years, says Azim H Premji, chairman, Wipro.
This move by the company will enable it to emerge as the second largest IT development centre in India outside of Bangalore, The IT hub of the country. Currently, Wipro Technologies in Pune has 6,300 employees. The company also envisages coming up with another three centers in the area of hedge funds services and operations, embedded systems, VLSI and mainframe technologies.
The center is mainly into providing solutions to clients in banking, securities, and capital markets, insurance, telecom, and embedded systems. It also houses Wipro’s award winning remote infrastructure management centre for managed services and BPO operations.
