IHCL has launched its first India’s own GenNext ‘Smart Basics’ Hotel - ‘Ginger’ in New Delhi at Ajmeri Gate, Bhav Bhuti Marg, New Delhi Railway Station. The first of its kind, Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas is a combined effort of Ginger Hotels and Indian Railway to offer the discerning travellers coming to New Delhi a contemporary budget hotel well within their reach and right in the heart of the city.

Roots Corporation Limited (RCL) won the contract for renovating and running Rail Yatri Niwas, the well-known Delhi budget hotel owned by the railways, on a 15-year lease in January 2007. As part of the deal with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, RCL renovated, redesigned and added all the features distinctive of Ginger ‘Smart Basics’ concept in the last 14 months. The hotel will now be run and managed under the Ginger Hotel brand.

Speaking at the launch, Prabhat Pani, chief executive officer and director, Roots Corporation, said, “We are very happy to announce the launch of Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas in New Delhi. The property is not only city’s first Ginger Hotel but it’s also unique as it has been renovated from a Rail Yatri Niwas to a contemporary budget hotel. Ginger’s vision to delight its patrons with convenient and modern facilities at an unsurpassed value aligns very well with the Indian Railways drive to offer modern facilities to travellers. We take pride to have been associated with them for this project.”

The hotel was stripped to its bare shell and renovated in a period of nine months with an investment of Rs10.5 crore to offer the customers 109 Ginger’s Smart Basics rooms and a plethora of additional facilities. A guest at the hotel now has a choice of well fitted orange and blue theme rooms with LCD TVs, posturepedic mattresses, anti-allergy pillows, tropical duvets, Smart Bev Tea Coffee Maker, complimentary bottles of water and an access card to enter the room.

Additionally, Ginger Rail Yatri Niwas will offer a 24 x 7 restaurant, which will offer an array of food from across India and different parts of the world. The hotel also offers a book store by Galgotia’s for a traveler’s intellectual appetite and a Travel Desk for their entire local site seeing and travel needs are also being made available as part of the offering. There will further be a 24 x 7 medical store operated by Apollo Pharmacy. The rooms will be offered at an incredible price starting at Rs999 inclusive of taxes.
