Puducherry (formerly known as Pondicherry) is a Union Territory of India, and nestled on the Eastern seaboard of the country. It is popular known as “A little piece of Medieval France in India”. The Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Thiru T.R. Baalu has given a nod for the construction of roads in Pondicherry. He has also approved a large amount of Rs. 461.21 lakh for the work of improvement of Riding Quality in Km 173/400 to km 186/800 of NH-45A in Pondicherry. This stretch passes through the major industrial area.

The Government of Pondicherry is setting up an Integrated Infrastructural Development Centre at Sedarapet, Pondicherry, at a project cost of Rs.720 lacs in an area of 100 acres. This Centre is being set up to promote a cluster of small scale and tiny units with a view to generate employment opportunities and promote a strong linkage between agriculture and industry with technological back up and necessary infrastructure.

The Corporation also renders technical assistance to the entrepreneurs in the formulation of the project reports and also provides common facilities in the industrial estates.

Pondicherry Industrial Promotion Development & Investment Corporation provides loans and advances to the industrial units in the medium and large sectors to the maximum of Rs.400 lakh. The interest rate ranges from 13.5% to 17% depending upon the size of the loan.
