Indian real estate giant DLF Ltd has got the environmental approval for its Mall of India project in Gurgaon. The Mall will be developed with a total investment of over Rs 1500 crore.
It was the last hurdle which has been crossed. Now, the construction work will be started soon, says a company official.
To spread over a large area of 32.87 acre of land, the project will constitute four million square feet of retail space. The company is further planning to increase the built up space by an additional 1-2 million sq ft. In such a case, the cost of the project will shoot up to 2,000 crore.
The proposed mall has been designed by Jerde Partnership Inc, an international firm of architects. The under construction Mall of India at Gurgaon has a total leaseable area of around 39 lakh square feet and a total area of 32.87 acres.
The plan for the project is based on six main formats including stand alone stores, upscale shopping centers, destination malls, shopping districts, neighborhood malls, and super luxury malls.
The company has acquired land for construction of large retail space of about 44 million square feet. Of total, around 10 million square feet is already under development.
