Proposed by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises Ltd., Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) Project has been put on hold following the disagreement between the Karnataka Government and the project company.
The state government claims that NICE was indulged in construction business at the cost of land allotted for the project whereas the contractor blames the government to put obstacles in the success of the project.
BMIC project has been proposed expressway between the two cities.
The state government has been fined for Rs 5 lakh the last year for indulging in futile litigations to stall the project regarding development of 8 new townships in the city.
H D Kumaraswamy, the present Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka, has sought permission to carry out a fact finding enquiry to determine the availability of 2,289 acres of extra saleable land which has a market value of a whopping Rs 30,000 crore.
The minister has also asked the SC to permit the enquiry commission to go ahead with the judicial enquiry. The commission is to be headed by retired Delhi High Court Chief Justice B C Patel.
The petition filed by NICE has been dismissed by a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan and Justices BP Singh and GP Mathur on Friday.
The contract between NICE and the Karnataka government was signed during the Congress regime in 1988. The change of the government brought hurdles for the project. Mr. HD Deve Gowda, the former chief minister of the state, had earlier raised allegations against the company and criticized it for indulging in real estate business by acquiring excess land than the requirement. And, the project quietly slipped into limbo.
