NEW DELHI: The earlier policies like STPI had played a key role in stimulating the growth of commercial real estate across major cities like NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, etc.

However, with the withdrawal of STPI benefits and IT/ITeS SEZs largely concentrated across Tier 1 cities, the country lacks any key incentive policy for growth of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

Suggestion:

The central government should consider providing incentive packages for commercial development of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
