Coimbatore is going to be the next IT hub with large corporates looking forward to come up with their operation centers in the city. This is believed to have planned even before the announcement of IT SEZ by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (Elcot).
Several city based corporates including the Bannari Amman Group, Salzer Group, and KG Group are considering coming on the IT front. This has encouraged new commercial developers to join the bandwagon by getting formal SEZ approval for their proposed projects.
Coimbatore Hi-Tech Infrastructure is to develop an exclusive IT SEZ over an area of 60.73 acres at Keeranatham village.
Span Ventures has got a nod to develop IT/ITes SEZ over 10.5 acres at Eachanari.
Close by heels of other developers is the state owned Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) which is also planning an IT Park in the city suburbs.
The villages of Sundakamuthur, Perur Chettipalayam and Thithipalayam will see construction of an ‘Integrated Feeder Township with an Information Technology Park’ over 625 acres. This is a real estate project proposed by Chennai based Rakindo Developers.
The group may also promote an IT park on 25 acres at Perur village at Chettipalayam in South Coimbatore district.
Salzer Group is pondering upon to construct 1 lakh sq ft IT Park in collaboration with US based consulting service provider.
KG Group has recently bought around 160 acres in proximity to its existing campus at Saravanampatty to develop it as an ITES SEZ.
With such developments around the corner, Coimbatore real estate market is to witness the development of around 10-15 million sq ft. of new IT/ITeS space by the end of 2009.
