BANGALORE: The Bangalore urban district administration has cleared encroachment of lake in Vibhuthipura off CV Raman Nagar close to HAl Airport in the city by demolishing several buildings and compound walls on Saturday.

The land encroached is Survey No 175 in the Vibhuthipura pastoral area in Bangalore East with a total extent of 45.25 acres are yet to be valued as per the government guidance value.But the district administration said it will cross more than Rs 15 crore as per market value.

The land stands between C V Raman Nagar and runs till the Vigyan nagar.

“The entire area around the land has been developed by private builders and has turned into housing plots and several houses have come up already. The land around the lake has been used as a jogging track by the local residents. There were some apartments in 3.5 acres of land that was earlier encroached by some private builders to construct apartments, Dr GC Prakash, deputy commissioner (bangalore Urban).

Several villas in the illegal layouts around the lake have also had come up in the past, he added. The district administration will also look into the extent of the illegal encroachment. However, some land owners have approached the law courts and there were several cases pending before the courts which came as hindrance to the demolition team, he added.
